 Remarks on oogonia:
Phytophthora lateralis does usually not produce oogonia in culture. No oogonia were observed in single culture on CMA, PDA, V8, CMA oxoid and PCA agar. Mating with A1 and A2 tester strains of several species did not result in formation of gametangia. The species is considered sterile for identification purposes in this database.
Sexual structures were reported by other authors on Port Orford cedar agar (Gallegly and Hong 2008)
